After several decades of abandonment, rehabilitation work has brought this architectural gem that is the Château de Perdicaris out of its torpor, as part of a vast operation to restore and renovate the metropolis of Tangier. It was officially transformed into a Heritage Interpretation Center responsible for the memory of Tangier. The work required a budget of 2 million euros coordinated bythe Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication etthe National Agency for  Water and forestsof the Wilaya of Tangier in Morocco. They made it possible to preserve the architecture of the interior as well as that of the exterior facade and decorative elements such as period furniture.

The primary mission of the new interpretation center is to promote the biodiversity of the northern region of Morocco by means of a rediscovery of the endemic fauna and flora of the region and which are partly present within the forest of Rmilate within which the castle is located. The forest is rich in autochthonous flora (cork oak, kermes oak) but also exotic (eucalyptus, pines, pine nuts, palm trees, date palms, mimosas, dragon trees and yuccas). As for the fauna, it is rich in wild boars, harriers, chameleons, and migratory birds stop there. The surrounding forest area is classifiedSite of biological and ecological interest (SIBE)since 1996.

The official inauguration of the renovation of this jewel overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar took place on April 23, 2022 in the presence of the daughter of Moulay Raisuni.
